The Ylang Ylang property has some incredibly gorgeous gardens. One of the owners, Patricia, has spent many years creating these beautiful gardens. Once a week, Patricia offers a free garden tour in Montezuma to our guests. She walks them around the property, pointing out different trees, plants and flowers and gives them a brief history of this property and Ylang Ylang. She also brings along some fruit samples that grow on our trees. This is a fun way to get to know Patricia and the history of Ylang Ylang!
Playa Grande Costa Rica is a long, expansive beach located about 20 minutes walking distance from Ylang Ylang. To get to Playa Grande, you walk through numerous jungle trails and beaches. You will cross a couple of small rivers, climb up and down some rocks and emerge at a beautiful long stretch of deserted beach. There are no building on Playa Grande and usually very few people. Early in the morning is the best time to find yourself on the beach alone.
Playa Grande also has long rolling waves and shallow water. It is perfect for swimming, boogie boarding and learning to surf. Playa Grande is also a private refuge, meaning that it cannot be built on or camped on and must stay preserved. Bring a hammock, towel, sunscreen, water, and snacks to enjoy your day here! Perched high up in the canopy, surrounded by trees and a partial view of the ocean, it offers an incredible getaway. The Tree Top Canopy room is a large African style safari tent with a large king bed, indoor bathroom and two outdoor showers. There is a wonderful lounging space on the deck outside with a couch, table and chairs.
This space is private and secluded. You’ll enjoy the sounds of nature, waves crashing on the rocks and the trees moving in the wind. Walk down your private walkway and you’ll find yourself right on the beach. This is truly a one of a kind experience!
Thai and Alyson moved to Costa Rica to teach English. They fell in love with the country and after having lived here for a couple years were offered the opportunity to run a language school here in Montezuma. They moved to Montezuma last August to run Proyecto Montezuma. In March, they invited their friends and family to come visit their new home and celebrate their wedding! In the days before the wedding a volcano erupted in Costa Rica’s central valley and strong winds blew the ash into San Jose. This caused many flights to be cancelled or delayed and unfortunately many of Thai and Alyson’s guests were effected my this. In the end two guests were not able to make it, but everyone else was able to arrive just in time for the wedding. The gorgeous day was captured by Ale Sura Photography. All wedding planning and preparation was done by Ylang Ylang Beach Resort. Check out the beautiful photos below of their Costa Rica Beach Wedding.
