Ecotourism in Costa Rica is expanding. Here at Ylang Ylang, we have been on the forefront of this initiative for the past 30 years. We recycle, compost, use solar energy, have reusable energy system to heat hot water, and continue planting trees. These are just a few of the ways that we are an eco-friendly hotel in Costa Rica.
We also choose to donate part of our profits to a local non-profit organization called ASEPALECO. This organization purchases land and makes it protected property that cannot be developed. They protect a major part of the watershed of the Nicoya Peninsula and the wildlife that inhabits that area.
Our reusable hot water system, uses the heat that is created by our air-conditioners to heat the hot water tanks. This eliminates the need for electricity to power the air-conditioner and the hot water tank. Our solar panels contribute about 30% of our electricity for the entire hotel.
