A truly incredible experience! Amazing people, great food, great accommodations and gorgeous views! Magnificent eco friendly design complimenting the best nature has to offer. My family and I cant wait to go back. Pura Vida!
This was the most beautiful and romantic place I have ever stayed. We stayed in the standard room facing the beach and it was spectacular. I walked on the beach, watched turtle being released and saw the most beautiful squirrels and weird wildlife. The monkeys stayed pretty high in the trees but you could count on them showing up every night at dusk.... more The room was always clean, the staff is above friendly and helpful. The food (included in the room rate - AMAZING!) was beyond our expectations and dinner was 5 star every night. You can walk into town as its only 5-10 minutes depending on beach or road route and feel totally safe. If you don't want to walk, the staff will drive you. There isn't much to do in town and we really liked it there so stayed and walked the paths, hiked to the water falls. It is a MUST if you are in this area. We met so many fun people there too! 🙂 We will go back again and again I am sure.... less
Nice and clean appartments. Minor detail: a little noisy, the neighbours woke me up with their loud talking. The surrounding is beautiful and also kept clean very well. We saw lots of animals around the appartments and swimming pool. Birds, squirls, agoutis, monkeys and so on. Helpful and friendly personnel. The restaurant was great, we had fantastic... more dinners. I would recomment to make more clear that own cars should be left at a hotel downtown and that luggage and travellers are picked up there.... less
If you want to experience monkeys up close, fall asleep to the sound of crashing ocean waves, and don't mind climbing 53 steps to your room, book a stay in Ylang Ylang's Tree Top Canopy room! The room itself has air conditioning and a comfy king bed. There is also a lovely outdoor lighted deck with table & chairs, couch, outdoor shower, and small... more kitchen. Inside, there is a nice bathroom and a second indoor/outdoor shower/tub. Very secluded and romantic!... less
After a full day of travel, we arrived at the oasis of Ylang Ylang! Greeted with a smile and passion fruit juice, we were soon settled into our beach dome with the sounds of ocean waves heard even over the air conditioner. Wonderful! Dinner was incredible! Fresh fish, frozen lemonade and the fragrance of Ylang Ylang flowers on the table was a great way... more to settle in for a week's stay for our niece's wedding! Beautiful sunrises, walks along deserted beaches, friendly owners and staff, delicious leisurely breakfasts and dinners and the most amazing location for a wedding and reception! A magical place! It was nice to have time to relax at the pool, hike to the Montezuma Falls and El Chorro Falls, take a yoga class overlooking the ocean, ride ATVs, go on a nature hike with Eduardo and sit in a hammock reading a book! The best part was spending time with family and new friends, in a beautiful jungle beach setting! Thank you Emma and Moraya for your wonderful hospitality! A trip of a lifetime!... less
No words could properly capture how perfect every moment of my wedding week was for myself, my family and friends. If you are in search of a unique dream wedding that blows all of your expectations out of the water this place with all of its splendor with the perfect couple for wedding planners are for you!!
This was our very first trip to Costa Rica. We were a bit nervous about the transportation and getting around in a country that we were not familiar with. Ylang Ylang took care of us from the start. They not only coordinated our wedding, but arranged all excursions, and transportation to and from the airport. The transportation involved both private and... more group shuttles as well as a ferry. All of the drivers that were arranged through Ylang Ylang were prompt, courteous and professional. We felt like we were in good hands from start to finish. That does not hold a candle to to the amazing experience at Ylang Ylang. When you first step foot on the grounds you are immediately transported into a jungle paradise. As you walk down the path to your private dome, you are surrounded by lush landscaping, monkeys in the trees and an occasional agouti. The grounds are also alive with birds, butterflies and the sound of crashing waves. When we arrived at our dome we were welcomed with an adorable towel animal (we got a new one every day), a bottle of champagne and fresh flowers, as well as a charming and well maintained room. Even though the property is amazing and beautiful, the true asset at Ylang Ylang is the staff. From Alex and Jeffery at the front desk, to Patricia, the bar tender and Moises our waiter we were treated like we were the only guests at the resort. Words are not enough to describe their kindness and professionalism. Emma and Moraya, our wedding planners went above and beyond. The day of our wedding was quite stormy. We were concerned that we would be getting married in a downpour or not on the beach where we had wanted. Thanks to Moraya's flexibility we were able to squeeze in our wedding and photos in-between the storms. He has calm and professional and made us feel like it would all work out, which it did. The wedding on the beach was amazing and our photographer John Williamson (also arranged through Ylang Ylang) did an exceptional job. I have so many wonderful pictures that I am sure my Facebook friends are getting tired of viewing them. We loved our stay at Ylang Ylang and can't wait to return in the not so distant future. You and your staff were amazing and we will never forget the time we spent at Ylang Ylang.Nancy and James Spence... less
Ylang Ylang is so quiet and beautiful. The bungalows that face the ocean are supreme. We so enjoyed our stay, we saw white faced monkeys, a small family with mom with their babies on their backs walk across the beach area on our first 10 minutes at Ylang Ylang. The food was wonderful and staff were so great. We enjoyed talking with Alex. We did the... more horse back ride along the beach and that was so wonderful and beautiful. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return.... less
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the level of service and attention to detail from the entire staff at Ylang Ylang Beach Resort. The beach bungalow was beautiful and clean with a spectacular view. The reception desk staff were extremely helpful in assisting us no matter what the request. Emma, our wedding planner was supremely well... more organized and helped to make our wedding day a dream come true. The restaurant staff quickly learned our names and were attentive to every detail. The food was delicious and fresh. The resort itself is beautifully well kept. Ylang Ylang is a paradise oasis! We will cherish forever the memories of our wedding in this beautiful place,as well as the wonderful people who made our visit so enjoyable.... less
Stunning resort with high levels of comfort and relaxation. We stayed in the tree top canopy - simply wonderful experience with capuchin monkeys, iguanas and birds all around, waking up in the tree tops with the sound of huge waves crashing on the rocks near by. The staff are also extremely nice and professional. The restaurant is excellent. The choice... more between the postcard perfect sandy beach with huge waves, or sitting under the waterfall in the cool pool, is a hard one to make. This is a near perfect place.... less
We stayed at Ylang Ylang Resort for our first visit to Costa Rica. It won't be the last! We loved everything about the resort and consider it to be paradise. We stayed in the tent cabins and woke to monkeys and birds each morning. The days were spent exploring the area, dining by the ocean, and swimming in the refreshing pool. We loved this resort as... more it was not crowded and felt very authentic with lots of iguanas, monkeys, and birds. The staff were top-notch and so welcoming. The tours we took (fishing, snorkeling, zip lining) were fantastic and well organized. For parents with teenage children it was truly a vacation as the breakfast and dinner were included and just a short walk to Montezuma if we felt like ice cream or shopping! Can't wait to return.... less
We loved everything about this place. My husband and I got married here and stayed for 4 nights. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We couldn't have asked for anything better! To be sure, the resort is a trek from San Jose airport, but for us, the seclusion and its "off-the-beaten-track"-ness was part of its charm. From the second we stepped... more foot on the resort we thought we had died and gone to heaven. From the service to the grounds to the amenities to the beach -- it exceeded all of our expectations. The food and drinks were to die for!! Each mouth-watering meal seemed better than the one before. Everything tasted so fresh and light -- nothing heavy and greasy like the food we're so accustomed to in the states. And the service was outstanding! My husband and I opted for the romantic beachfront dinner on our last night there, and the 3-course meal, drinks and wine, and incredible service were well worth the cost! The wedding planner was so helpful throughout our year of wedding planning! She was extremely prompt and thorough in her responses to my every question, which was so helpful. We also hired Ylang Ylang's minister for our ceremony, who was wonderful -- very kind and receptive to our vision of our ceremony. The staff handled all of the decorating and set-up, which made the wedding day so much more relaxing and enjoyable. The only thing I would note is that, if you are thinking of getting married here, I'd recommend that the bride/bridesmaids find someone they know to do their hair/makeup, rather than paying for these services through the resort The hair/makeup woman I hired through Ylang Ylang did interesting work, but my hair and makeup looked nothing like what I had asked for (or showed her pictures of), which is obviously stressful and upsetting for a bride on her wedding day. With my hair, she used no hot tools or hair spray, and made braids the defining feature of my updo when I had asked for just a subtle accent braid or two. I wound up with a look completely different from what I had wanted. And with makeup, she just started without running any color scheme, general look, etc. by me. I expected more, especially considering the steep price for her services ($125 for hair; $50 for makeup).Other than that, we have no complaints! A beautifully unique resort in a gorgeous location with the best staff and heavenly food! You will absolutely fall in love with this place.... less
