Montezuma, Costa Rica is full of natural wonders, wildlife, exciting tours and activities. With these adventure tours and packages you can zip-line through the jungle canopy, hike to the Montezuma waterfalls, and get out on the open ocean.

Visit Tortuga Island and take in the exotic fish and clear blue waters. Go deep sea fishing and cast off for yellow-fin tuna, mackerel, mahi-mahi and other local beauties in and around Montezuma and the Nicoya Peninsula. Looking for something near shore? Try a horseback ride on the beach or visiting one of the local national parks and wildlife refuges. If action is your thing, try a surf lesson or create your own ATV adventure through the jungle.

Our classes are open to the public, and we welcome all guests staying here at Ylang Ylang Beach Resort or elsewhere. We offer a variety of class types for every level and interest. To see schedules, visit our Facebook page here.

Zip Line Canopy Tour

Soar through the jungle and enjoy 9 zip-line cables totaling 1,320 meters. Take in breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the jungle canopy you’ll be swinging through! Take a refreshing swim at the Montezuma waterfall during the break.

Tortuga Island Day Trip

A beautiful 50-minute boat ride to and from Tortuga Island with the possibility of seeing marine life like dolphins, whales and turtles. Enjoy the island’s calm turquoise water, white sand beach and shady palm trees. Tour includes a stop at a nearby island to snorkel.

Includes: Lunch (chicken, fish (seasonal) or vegetarian), drinks & snorkeling equipment.

Curú Wildlife Refuge

Our top recommendation for a guided eco tour in the area! With naturalist guide, Eduardo, he will point out animals & birds and explain the tropical vegetation. View abundant wildlife, explore numerous trails, and visit a tropical beach with white coral sand & calm waters.

Horseback Riding on the Beach

Enjoy a 3 1/2 hour ride along 7 different beaches and jungle trails. Stop for a break at our area’s famous waterfall, El Chorro… one of the seven waterfalls in the world that drops into the ocean.

ATV Rental

Explore the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula by ATV. An adventurous self-guided day through the country roads and tropical forests. Visit Malpais and Santa Teresa, our neighboring towns just a 45-minute ride away for lunch, a swim or surfing. If you’re a hiker, Cabo Blanco Reserve is down the road from Montezuma.

Full day Rental: 8am – 8pm

Important Note from Provider: Each ATV will require a $1,000 deposit, which is returned after rental (as long as there are no damages).

Cabo Blanco National Park

As the very first national park founded in Costa Rica, Cabo Blanco is home to beautiful tropical forest, beaches and wildlife. This National Park is located just 7km from our resort. Hike the trails on your own or hire our naturalist guide to take you through the park. Consisting of 1,272 hectares of protected land & 1,790 of ocean, the park is open from 8:00am – 4:00pm (Closed Mondays & Tuesdays).

Big Tuna Fishing

Enjoy fishing with a passionate local fisherman who knows all the best local spots. Morning and Afternoon Fishing offer the option of trolling, jigging and popping 3-5 miles out. Full Day offers the option of more deep sea fishing 20-30 miles out.

Includes: Bilingual Guide, beer, water, juices, fruits and all fishing equipment (Lunch Sandwich for the full day option)

Cabuya Sunset & Bioluminescence Cruise

Enjoy a beautiful boat ride around the Cabuya and Cabo Blanco Islands. You will get to snorkel (depending on tides) around Cabuya Island, then head over to Cabo Blanco Island and watch the sunset while enjoying fresh fruits and drinks. When night falls, you will have the chance to see the Bioluminescence and swim in it.

Time: 4:30-7:30pm.
Note: This tour is only offered for certain days of the month when there is no full moon.

Tambor Bay Sunset Cruise

Enjoy a beautiful boat ride in the calm waters of Tambor Bay. The bilingual tour guide will point out marine birds along the coast and mangroves. You will visit a beautiful white sand beach perfect for swimming while enjoying fresh fruits and drinks, after that you will enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets over the mountains of the Peninsula. When night falls, if it is dark enough, you will have the chance to see the Bioluminescence. If there is a full moon, you will enjoy watching it rise.

Time: 3:00-7:00pm.

Surf Lessons

Surfing is a rewarding experience for beginners and pros alike. Join our surf instructors for a 3-hour lesson to learn step-by-step basics or to improve your existing moves.

Time will be based on the high tide.
Includes: Rash guard and use of a surfboard.

Sport Fishing - Half & Full Day

The abundant marine life off the tropical Pacific Coast makes Costa Rica one of the world’s top fishing destinations. The coastal waters are home to yellow-fin tuna, mackerel, jacks & mahi-mahi, while deeper out you may find sailfish, wahoo & marlin.

Montezuma Waterfall

Cost: Free

Hike to the famous 3-tier waterfall of Montezuma. Hike up the river path to enjoy the large swimming hole and the tallest waterfall. For the adventurous, you can climb to the top 2 pools but be prepared for a narrow path against the cliff. We discourage jumping from the rocks as it is slippery & dangerous.

El Chorro Waterfall

Cost: Free

Visit one of our area’s famous waterfalls, one of the seven waterfalls in the world that drops into the ocean. A beautiful walk along deserted beaches & through jungle trails. Climb to the top for a break & a stunning panoramic view. We recommend you start your journey early in the morning when the temperature is cooler.

Piedra Colorada River

Cost: Free

A river and swimming hole edged with sand made of unique colored rocks. Climb up the river path to small waterfalls & a shady swimming hole. Great for kids and anyone wanting to explore a local river.

Playa Grande Activities

Cost: Free

Enjoy the 25-minute walk weaving through the jungle paths and tropical beaches to arrive at a long and seemingly endless beach, great for sunbathing, boogie boarding or surfing. Soft, long rolling waves make this beach perfect for wading and swimming.

Mountain Bike Rentals
