Montezuma, Costa Rica is a popular traveling destination for those one a budget. It’s also the town nearest Ylang Ylang Beach Resort, so of course we want to help people get there safely, with as little trouble as possible.

1. Best Airport: San Jose (SJO) or Liberia (LIR)

Although there are more flights heading into SJO, most of them leave in the morning, which is unappealing to people who don’t like mornings or morning airport shuffles.

Of course, if you fly into LIR, your two travel options available are a rental car or private transfer. A Shared Shuttle is also an option, but like flights into SJO, it is only available in the morning, often just once a day, so planning on using the Shared Shuttle can be tricky, and if your flight is delayed, you might miss it.

2. Transportation Options to Montezuma

Personal ground transfer services offer friendly, trustworthy drivers who are bilingual in English and Spanish. 11 people can ride in a van, and A/C, drinks, and music are on board. A trip should last around four to four and a half hours.

A domestic flight allows you a 25 minute scenic flight over the ocean and countryside to another destination in Costa Rica, and can be as low as $105 per person.

A shared shuttle is an economical van and ferry service that is offered in Montezuma. It takes about four to six hours.

A taxi boat and shared shuttle is an even cheaper derivative of the last option. It takes three and a half to four hours.
