Costa Rica is a small country, but can be complicated to get around. There are a number of different ways to travel to Montezuma.
The fastest and most efficient option is to take a domestic flight to Tambor. This is a small local flight that takes about 25 minutes from San Jose airport. Landing in Tambor, you will be picked up by a taxi, which will bring you to Montezuma. It is about a 40 minute ride from Tambor to Montezuma. The flight offers some pretty incredible scenery! The other option is ground transportation, which offers a view of the countryside and a nice ride across the Gulf of Nicoya. This is a longer trip, approximately 4-5 hours, but allows you to see some beautiful parts of Costa Rica.
There are also the options of a shared shuttle and a taxi boat. This shared shuttle picks you up in San Jose and takes you to Jaco, where you will board a high speed passenger boat and arrive on the beaches of Montezuma.
